Kimolos is a delight!
Just a jaunty ferry ride of twenty minutes from Pollonia on Milos, it is worth a visit!
The port town of Psathi is as sleepy as it gets! Just two tavernas right on the pleasant little beach, and a trendy cafe-bar under the trees near where the ferry ties up. People in Psathi seem to be waiting for Godot. They all just seemed to be sitting around waiting for nothing to happen!
An easy fifteen minute walk up the hill from the port brings you to Chora, which consists of the usual narrow lanes and alleyways. It's not quite as charming and picturesque as Plaka on Milos, but quite cute in its delightfully downbeat sort of way. I liked it; spending hours just strolling around.
For me, Goupa, was an unexpected delight. A lovely sleepy fishing hamlet just ten minute's walk down from Chora. It is a marvellous higgeldy-piggeldy of picturesque fishermen's houses and boat sheds. Charming!
And that is Kimolos! A thoroughly enjoyable day-trip. And, if you are looking for a very traditional island to spend a week on in order to get away from it all, then Kimolos is it!
